The Ohio Department of Agriculture announced it has issued a Permit to Install to Bridgewater Dairy for construction of a satellite manure storage lagoon. Lagoon #7 will be located about 2 miles northwest of the dairy, on the east side of County Road 6.75, in Bridgewater Township. The dairy, located within the St. Joseph watershed, has a design capacity for 3,900 mature dairy cows and 500 calves/heifers. There are six existing liquid manure storage structures with a combined capacity of 32.3 million gallons and a separate pond to store collected storm water with a capacity of 3.5 million gallons. The ODA approved the PTI on Dec. 21, 2020. The expanded Lagoon #7 would provide 78 days’ worth of manure storage. No additional cows are proposed with this permit.
