Suspect in shooting incident in Defiance County detained in Indiana.

After reportedly shooting his sister on Saturday morning in Defiance County, a man was detained in an Indiana jail this past weekend. As a suspect in a shooting on Painter Road in Defiance County’s Highland Township, John Okuley has been detained since Saturday afternoon at White County Community Corrections, which is situated in the town of Monticello in northwest Indiana. A court extradition hearing in White County, Indiana, is pending his return to Defiance County. The Defiance County Sheriff’s Office first accused Okuley of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and attempted murder, a first-degree felony. His case is scheduled to be heard by a Defiance County grand jury, which may return those and/or more charges.
