Sylvia Marie “Toby” Roesti, 67 years, of Defiance, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, with her family by her side. Toby was born on October 11, 1948 in Paulding, Ohio to the late Roy L. and Rose M. (Outland) Miller. She was a 1966 graduate of Antwerp High School. Toby married Jon A. Roesti on September 8, 1967 in Antwerp, Ohio. She worked at General Federal Credit Union for five years and Sherwood State Bank for twenty years. She most recently worked at First Federal Bank in Defiance as a retail banker until her retirement in 2010. Toby was a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church and the Defiance Eagles Aerie 372. Toby was also a Hospice Volunteer as well as a volunteer at Defiance Regional Hospital, Defiance. In her free time Toby enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling whenever she had the opportunity.
Surviving is her husband, Jon A. Roesti of Defiance, Ohio; three sons, G. Troy (Kathleen) Roesti of Alexandria, Virginia, Brian J. (Audra) Roesti of West Unity, Ohio, and Branden C. (Julia) Roesti of Bryan, Ohio; eight grandchildren: F. Colt Roesti, Skylar P. Roesti, Logan T. Roesti, Brayden C. Roesti, B. Grey Roesti, Zoe M. Roesti, Lissa K. Roesti and Izabel A. Roesti; three brothers, Dr. L.H. (Barbara) Miller of Johnston City, Tennessee, James E. (Joyce) Miller of Antwerp, Ohio, and David R. (Kay) Miller of Bluffton, Ohio; one sister, Beth A. Lamb of Bluffton, Ohio. Toby was preceded in death by her parents and one son, James B. Roesti.
Visitation for Sylvia Marie “Toby” Roesti will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood. Funeral services for Sylvia M. “Toby” Roesti will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 in the Sherwood United Methodist Church, 512 North Harrison Street, Sherwood, with Pastor Kevin Doseck officiating. Private interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Cecil, Ohio.
