For procrastinators, those who like to burn the proverbial midnight oil and the forgetful, filing one’s taxes is quickly moving from an afterthought to a priority as the deadline looms. Tomorrow is the last day to file an income tax return on time. We’ve all gotten a little bit of a break this year. Usually, the deadline falls on April 15, but since that was on a Saturday this year and with the federal Emancipation Day holiday today, those who have not gotten to the task have had a few extra days to get the job done. Keep in mind that a filing extension can be obtained, but anything owed will still have to be paid as of the April 18 deadline. In 2014 – the latest year for which data is available – 17,293 individual returns were filed from Williams County, covering $806,298,814 in gross income.
