The suit, according to the Crescent News, comes following a grievance the union filed last August, and concerns the board’s alleged unfair actions taken against Amber Apt.

The suit seeks a declaratory judgment vacating an April 16 arbitration award, and also asks that the court “award the association a make whole remedy and Amber Apt a make whole remedy including, but not limited to, a limited contract for the 2013–14 school year.“

The Hicksville Education Association says they have referred the matter to their attorney, and a response will be filed on their behalf. They say they intend to vigorously defend against the lawsuit.
