Auburn Police Detectives are investigating a “Battery Causing Bodily Injury” incident, which they say “became very complicated, very quickly”, due to the amount of Social Media posts concerning the event. Late Tuesday night, July 18th, officers responded to Wayne Street on the report of a battery. They found Heather Jones bleeding from a cut to her face and complaining of severe pain. Jones reported she was hit by an object that was thrown from a passing vehicle and into the vehicle that she was driving on Wayne Street. Jones suffered a fractured jaw. Police located a wrench that is believed to be the object that was thrown and struck Jones. Police also learned that the incident occurred after at least one suspect and Jones had a disagreement through social media messages.
