Thurman L.J. Middaugh, 90, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Vancrest of Hicksville. Thurman was born March 16, 1931 in Hicksville, Ohio, son of the late Ray and Bertha (Sprow) Middaugh. He attended Hicksville High School, and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Thurman married Caroll Cook on June 19, 1954, and she survives. Thurman worked in packaging and maintenance at Falstaff Brewery, Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Napoleon Amvets Post 1313, Defiance DAV Post 36, Hicksville American Legion Post 223, and Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556. In his free time, Thurman enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, camping and working around his property.
Thurman is survived by his wife, Caroll of Hicksville, Ohio; three sons, Howard Middaugh of Auburn, Indiana, Ronnie Middaugh of Hicksville, Ohio, and Danny Middaugh of the Cecil, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley Middaugh; and one brother, Clayton Middaugh.
Visitation for Thurman L.J. Middaugh will be held Tuesday, December 21 2021 from 12:00 noon – 1:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral services will immediately follow in the funeral home, beginning at 1:00 P.M. with Celebrant Patricia Peter officiating. Interment will follow in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Hicksville American Legion Post 223.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the Defiance DAV Post 36.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family requests that those attending visitation or funeral services for Thurman to please wear a mask and to observe social distancing.
