Thurman L. Kennedy, 77

Thurman L. Kennedy, 77, of Coldwater, Michigan, and formerly of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility, Coldwater, Michigan. Thurman was born November 10, 1944, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of the late Vern and Betty (Whitehurst) Kennedy. He was a 1963 graduate of Defiance High School, Defiance, Ohio. Thurman was employed as a small electronic parts assembler. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hicksville. Thurman was an avid bowler and was an active participant with the Special Olympics in California, where he lived for many years. Thurman enjoyed caring for his many nieces and nephews and will fondly be remembered for his big heart and love for others.

Thurman is survived by one brother, Allen (Kaylyn) Kennedy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Elizabeth A. Kennedy of Florida; 12 nieces and nephews, Israel (Brooke) Vanderpuyl, Derek Lytle, Rebeka Vanderpuyl, Jeremiah (Holly) Vanderpuyl, Johanna Vanderpuyl, Heidi Vanderpuyl, Vern Kennedy, Amber Kennedy, Ashley Kennedy, Shawn Michael Kennedy, Allen Ray Kennedy II, and Ned Kennedy. Thurman was preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew, Joshua Vanderpuyl.

At Thurman’s request, no visitation or services will be held. Interment will take place in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio.
