A tie vote by Defiance County’s board of elections on the certification of a Hicksville mayoral candidate will now send the matter on up to a higher authority. The board voted 2–2 in deciding whether David Schooley should be certified as a Democratic candidate in November for the Hicksville mayor’s race. The tie vote will now leave the decision with Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted. The board has 14 days to send all the pertinent information to Husted’s office.
