Tivurcio Vasquez, Jr., 61

Tivurcio Vasquez, Jr., 61,of Bryan, Ohio, formerly of Uvalde, passed away on August 3, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Uvalde, Texas to Tivurcio Vara Vasquez, Sr. and Josefa Najar Vasquez on June 17, 1963. He married Anna Vilma Martinez in 1984 in Uvalde.

Known to family as Butchy, and friends as Butch; he always had a smile & a story to tell. He loved family, doting on his grandchildren, and accompanying his mother to church at the Assembly of God in Archbold, Ohio, and Templo Christiano in Uvalde, Texas.

He loved cooking, strong coffee, and trips to Wal-Mart & Dairy Queen. He was the family Top Chef, with three prized BBQ grills to whip up a feast at any given time. His favorite past times were fishing, riding motorcycles, and playing guitar. He loved listening to AC/DC, Waylon Jennings, ELO, John Prine, Robert Cray, Fleetwood Mac, and Hank Williams Jr. A history buff; he also liked to read, watch the news & YouTube, and watch the 80’s TV show, In the Heat of the Night. He had a fascination with Lighthouses, and a soft spot for buying toys for his grandchildren. He was a jack of all trades. He fondly served as a Certified Auto Mechanic, a hospital Dietician, and a member of the Bryan Eagles. Most recently Butch was a Superintendent of Construction at R.C. Hope Construction, and prided himself on buildings in Uvalde, Dallas, Kerrville, Laredo, and Beaumont, Texas.

Butch was the ultimate tourist and loved traveling with family. He visited the Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, County Music Hall of Fame, Loretta Lynn Ranch, Wildwood Manor House, Harrison Lake, Michigan Sand Dunes, Fisherman’s Wharf & Golden Gate Bridge, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, and Woodburn, Oregon.

Butch will always be remembered as a great man, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to all that loved him.

He is survived by his three sons, David Lee Vasquez and companion, India Kenner, of Edgerton, Ohio, Jose Luis Vasquez of Bryan, Ohio and Adam Vasquez and companion, Lynzee Elzey of Bryan, Ohio, and an adopted daughter, Bella Vasquez of Defiance, Ohio; mother of his children, Ana Vasquez of Defiance, Ohio; mother, Josefa Galvan of Uvalde; two brothers, Jose Vasquez, and companion Melissa Shutts, of Stryker, Ohio, and Dan N. Vasquez of San Antonio, two sisters, Rosa Angel Mason and husband, Michael of Batesville, and Cynthia Vasquez and companion, Corey Ruslink of Lewisville, Texas; cousins, Delia Martinez, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Patricio Ramos of Uvalde; nieces, Alicia Mason, of Batesville, Angela Mason, of Uvalde, Shauwna Casares of Uvalde, Polly Mason of Batesville, Carley Martinez of Uvalde, and Katya Allaire Vasquez and fiancé, Nathan Wayne Miller of Edgerton, Ohio; nephews, Naqui Vasquez, Ezekiel Vasquez, both of Waterloo, Indiana, best friend, John Daniel Gonzales, of Abilene; lifelong friends, Manuel “Manny” Hernandez, and Richard Sotelo both of Uvalde; step niece, Emily Shutts, step nephew, Nicholas Shutts; sister in law, Monica McAfee of Bryan, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ezrahleigh Vasquez of Edgerton, Ohio, Sophia Vasquez, Jose Vasquez, both of Edgerton, Ohio and Isabella Vasquez of Bryan Ohio; step grandchildren, Emileigh Kenner of Edgerton, Ohio, Layla Elzey, Adam Elzey, Sally Elzey

Butch was preceded in death by his father, Tivurcio Vara Vasquez, Sr.; niece, Christiana Alicia Vasquez; and stepfather, Reynaldo Angel “Rey” Galvan.

Services were held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery.

A gathering celebrating Butch’s life will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 12:00-4:00 P.M. at the Bryan Eagles Banquet Hall. Please come to share stories and celebrate with the family. Sandwiches will be provided. Please bring a passing dish. Donations will be accepted to help with Butch’s funeral expenses.
