Tom Pryslak, 66

Thomas M. “Tom” Pryslak, 66 years, of Pioneer, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan after a sudden illness.  Tom was born September 5, 1947 in Elmira, New York, the son of Steve and Mary (Opper) Pryslak.  He was a 1965 graduate of Thomas Edison High School, Elmira Heights, New York.  He then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1968.  He married Catherine S. Baker on July 26, 1986 in Ney, Ohio, and she survives.  Tom was an engineer working for several companies all around the world.  His most notable endeavor was in Switzerland, working on the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) for 4 weeks.  Tom was a private individual who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife, Cathy of Pioneer; three children, Mary (Doug) Gettmann of Seminole, Florida, Tina (Troy) Schermun of St. Petersburg, Florida and Nicholas Pryslak of Pioneer; seven grandchildren, Alexandria and Garrett Campbell, Haley and Lance Schermun and Erica Sky Rose, Michael and Dominique Pryslak; his father, Steve Pryslak of Largo, Florida; one brother, Stephen (Diane) Pryslak of Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, one daughter, Jeannette Lynn Pryslak and one brother, Andrew Pryslak.

To honor Tom’s request, there will not be any visitation or public services.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
