Valeta S. Barton, age 96, of Wauseon, passed away Monday evening, September 10, 2018, at Swanton Valley Center.
Valeta was born in Henry County, Ohio, on April 30, 1922, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Kruse) VonDeylen. She married Waldo Mahnke, and he preceded her in death. She married Clyde Barton, and he also preceded her in death. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon.
Surviving are two sons, Ron Mahnke of Dayton, Jerry Mahnke of Wauseon; two daughters, Marge Smith of Wauseon and Shirley Mahnke of Sylvania; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Elvera Koder of Wauseon; and two step-sons, Bill Barton of Napoleon and Gene Barton of New Mexico. She was preceded in death She was preceded in death by her her parents; sister, Rufina Seal; brother, Harold VonDeylen; and step-daughter Karen Ellis.
Visitation for Valeta will be held from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. A memorial will immediately follow, also at the church, with Pastor Julie Parsell, officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
