Verna Mae (Abbott) Bailey, age 95, of Wauseon, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, at Fulton Manor. Prior to her retirement in 1984 she had worked as a control analyst for the McCord Corporation in Wauseon for 17 years.
Verna Mae was born in Fulton County on September 26, 1921, the daughter of Earl and Jessie (Gordon) Abbott. On June 28, 1941 she married Allen S. Bailey and he preceded her in death in 2001. She attended the First Church of God in Wauseon. She received Jesus as her Savior at the age of 17 and had taught Sunday School Classes for over 30 years.
Surviving are two sons; Harlan (Maureen) Bailey of Apple Valley, MN, Hal (Jayne) Bailey of Wauseon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Wava Saeger of Delta. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation for Verna Mae will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Church of God in Wauseon, with Pastor Paul Flores, officiating. Interment will be in the Smith Cemetery.
