Born on May 28, 1944, to Stella and Denver Mock, Jin grew up with a strong spirit, a generous soul, and a deep love for family, country, and community. If you had the joy of knowing Jin, chances are you’ve tasted one of her famous pies or sweet treats—she baked with love, and she shared that love freely.
A proud patriot, Jin devoted countless hours to packing care boxes for troops overseas, sending them a little bit of home and her heart. She adored angels, took pride in her gardens and houseplants, and never met a piece of wallpaper or a room she couldn’t refresh with a little bit of hard work. She found joy in a hot cup of coffee, reruns of Law & Order, and sharing stories with patrons while bartending at the Eagles.
Jin was a trailblazer—becoming the first woman foreman at Dietrich Industries in Hicksville, and later retiring from BF Goodrich after years of dedicated work. She lived a life full of laughter, hard work, and warm kitchens, always ready with a plate of cookies and a smile.
She is survived by her loving sister, Fay Sitton (Bob); her children Brenda Hess (Mike), Mike Burlingame (Alisa), Rhonda Hathaway (Ed), and James Mitchell (Ann); her 13 cherished grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her fiercely.
Jin now joins her parents, Stella and Denver; her brothers Denver, Rick, and Bill Mock; and her beloved sisters Joan Bauer and Bonnie Conley in eternal peace.
Her love was constant, her hands always busy, and her door always open. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, strength, and sweet memories that will live on in every garden bloom, every coffee cup shared, and every bite of something baked with love.
To honor Virginia’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526.
