Virginia Louise Mayer, age 92, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Center for Hospice-Elkhart Hospice House. Mrs. Mayer had been a self-employed instructor at the Virginia Mayer Secretarial School for over 40 years. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading, studying and sewing.
Virginia was born on October 23, 1922, in Helmer, Indiana, the daughter of Donavon W. and Genevieve I. (Haughey) Isenhart. She married Harold Gordon Mayer on June 17, 1951, in Elkhart, Indiana, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Mayer is survived by her daughters, Christina McBride and Gloria Rohm; two grandsons, Jeremy McBride and Jim Rohm; two granddaughters, Angelina (Dwayne) Niccum and Angel (Steve) Tunks; and four great-grandchildren, Drew Niccum, Abigail, Austin and Aiden Tunks, all of Elkhart, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Donald D. Isenhart.
Grave side funeral services for Virginia will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Edon Cemetery with Reverend Roger Marlow officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Krill Funeral Service, Edon.
Memorials in the name of Virginia L. Mayer may be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
