Plans to build a new regional water treatment plant were on the table for discussion during a meeting this week of the Liberty Center Village Council. An intergovernmental consortium, made up of Liberty Center, Florida, Malinta and the Henry County Water and Sewer District, went over various options for building an all-new ground or surface water plant. At the same time however, some folks from Neapolis, in western Lucas County, began talking with Henry County officials about their concerns such that a groundwater source could lead to dried up wells in their area. A potential source for the proposed groundwater plant, would be an aquifer in western Lucas County’s Providence Township.
