WATER WOES IN DEFIANCE

A water main line break Mon­day diverted traf­fic in Defi­ance.

The break hap­pened just before noon yes­ter­day in the north­bound lane of North Clin­ton at Ses­sions Street.

City offi­cials say a four-inch hole was dis­cov­ered in a six-inch cast iron pipe.

Crews pumped water to a nearby storm sewer.

Reports indi­cated that the water level in the nearby Diehl Park water tower had dropped three feet.

The leak did con­sid­er­able dam­age to the road, tear­ing up a large area of pavement.
