Wayne Samuel Pike, 89 years, of West Unity, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Hillside Country Living. Wayne was born November 23, 1926, in Fulton County, Ohio, the son of the late Lucius Pearly and Mabel Naomi (Wyse) Pike. He married Ruby Marie Roesch on June 10, 1950 in Wauseon, Ohio, and she survives. A farmer, Wayne also worked for Young Spring & Wire in Archbold for 30 years, retired in 1989. Wayne was an active member at West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church in Wauseon, where he served as a Superintendent and Deacon. A tinkerer by trade, Wayne was a “Mr. Fix-it” man who could fix anything. He also enjoyed woodworking, traveling and playing softball.
Surviving is his wife, Ruby of West Unity; four daughters, Dianne (Paul) Heisey of West Unity, Brenda (Pete) Beck of West Unity, Nedra Pike of Defiance and Renee (Steve) Heisey of West Unity; one son-in-law, Jerry Morehouse of Defiance; 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Vaughn of Adrian, Michigan and Faye Carpenter of Bryan; one brother, Delmar (Vera) Pike of Wauseon. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nadine Morehouse, one great-grandson, Anthony Quick, five sisters, Larena Carpenter, Donna Fike, Bernice Bennett, Flora Pfund and Hazel Atkinson and one brother, Lowell Pike. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Visitation for Wayne Samuel Pike will be held Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral services for Wayne will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church, 18354 US Highway 20A, Wauseon, Ohio with Pastors Bob Carpenter, Brant Jamison, and Fred Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in North Pettisville Cemetery, Wauseon.
