Wayne Yates, 64 years, of Bryan, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at the emergency room of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan. Wayne was born July 16, 1951 in Grundy, Virginia, the son of the late Lonzo and Ruby D. (Skeens) Yates. Wayne worked as a computer operator and machinist for LTD in Grand Prairie, Texas. After moving to Bryan, Wayne began pursuing his passion, which was restoring classic old cars and roadsters, winning many trophies in the shows he entered. He was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233 and a former member of the AMVETS Post 54.
Surviving are his three sons, Timothy Yates of Brunswick, Georgia, Jeffery (Jenny) Yates of Salt Lake City, Utah and Dewey Yates of Galax, Virginia; two grandchildren, Jaiden and Kelby Yates; one sister, Pearl (Gary) Cooper of Bryan and two nephews, Doug (Edie) Stiltner of Bryan and Monty (Sherry) Stiltner of Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his father in June 25, 2013 and his mother on December 5, 2015.

There will not be any visitation and private graveside services will be held in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.
