The Fulton County Health Department has announced the first case of West Nile Virus in Ohio in 2025 is reported to be in a Fulton County resident. A press release issued by the Fulton County Health Department reported the Ohio Department of Health confirmed the case. The department reported it will continue to provide WNV data and updates as needed. WNV is spread by mosquitoes and can make some people very sick, but most people do not get seriously ill. Those older than 60 or those with other health conditions are at higher risk for serious illness.
