William D. “Doug” Chipman, 81

William D. “Doug” Chipman, 81 of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Doug was born June 7, 1943, in Fawn River Township, Michigan, the son of the late William P. and Hilda Mae (Gage) Chipman. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School. Doug was a lifelong farmer, which is what he loved to do. He was also co-owner of B & B Speed Shop in Fort Wayne. He also had owned a car lot in Fort Wayne for a period of time. Doug ended his working career employed by the Hamilton Lumber Company. He was a loyal member of the NRA. Doug had a passion for cars and snowmobiles. He loved to go to the UP of Michigan where he went fishing for walleye and rode snowmobiles.

Surviving is his brother, Jerry (Janet) Chipman of Hamilton Lake; his nephew, who served as his caretaker for the past several years, Bill (Erin) Chipman of Pleasant Lake; great-niece, Kelsea Chipman and great-nephew, Tre Roberson, both of Pleasant Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse, Karen and his only son, Kent Chipman.

A Celebration of Life for William D. “Doug” Chipman will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hamilton United Methodist Church with Rodney Snyder officiating. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the church.  Private interment was made in Hamilton Cemetery, beside his son, Kent. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hamilton.
