William S. Bauer, age 89, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away in his home on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, after a brief illness. Mr. Bauer was a 1947 graduate of Edon High School, was a lifelong farmer and had also retired from the Aro Corporation in Bryan. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edon, enjoyed playing pool and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes.
William S. Bauer was born on June 17, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Carl and Thelma (Houk) Bauer. He married Erma J. Oxender on November 21, 1948, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edon and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Rodney (Sue) Bauer, of Bryan, Diane (Denny) Heiney, of Montpelier, and Steve (Kathi) Bauer, also of Montpelier; a son-in-law, Butch Woolace, of Bryan; a sister-in-law, Lucy Bauer, Edon; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Woolace, his brother, Robert Bauer; and one great-grandson, Seth Muehlfeld.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Services will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at 1:30 P.M. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Edon, with Reverend Roger Marlow officiating. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery.
