Williams Co Joins Opioid Suit

Williams County Commissioners have signed on to litigation against opioid suppliers, joining hundreds of other counties across the country as plaintiffs in a federal complaint filed in the United States District Court in Ohio. Plaintiffs claim the manufacturers of prescription opioids grossly misrepresented the risks of the long-term use of those drugs for persons with chronic pain, which contributed to the current opioid epidemic. Drug companies and distributors in the case had argued that the communities involved as plaintiffs had no bearing to file suit.
