An energy saving project at Northwest State Community College is nearing completion, including the installation of a solar array, LED lighting upgrades and efficiency upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, as well as building automation components. The $3.3 million dollar energy project is being done in coordination with Veregy, which is managing the project. The project is guaranteed to save the college $239,237 dollar4s in energy costs the first year and similar savings in future years, as well as savings of $37,461 in operations and maintenance costs each year. The solar array has been installed and it is anticipated it will go online in 2023. When it’s fully functional, the array will be able to provide more than 85% of the electricity needed for the campus, officials say.
