3 candidates seek U.S. 9th District seat.

In an election update, three candidates – all from Lucas County – are seeking the U.S. 9th District seat that represents some local counties, but the main battle is situated between the two traditional parties. The candidates are Democrat incumbent Marcy Kaptur of Toledo, seeking her 22nd two-year term in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.; Republican Derek Merrin, a state representative in the Ohio General Assembly; and Tom Pruss, a Libertarian and business owner. The 9th District includes Defiance, Fulton and Williams counties along with Erie, Lucas, Ottawa and Sandusky counties, and part of Wood County.
