Kevin Michael Raker, 52 years, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Kevin was born on December 10, 1963 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Richard L. and Joan (Justinger) Raker. He was a 1982 graduate of Fairview High School. Kevin served in the United States Army from 1984-1986. He worked as a welding supervisor at Alex Products for four years. Previously he worked at Defiance Metal Products and in the warehouse at Bryan Truck Lines. Kevin enjoyed working with wood and worked on many remodeling projects. In his younger years he enjoyed creating art. He loved his family and especially his cat, Sunny.
Surviving is his mother and stepfather, Joan (Bud) Sailer of Sherwood, Ohio; one brother, David (Bonnie) Raker of Edgerton, Ohio; three sisters, Linda (Keith Roehrig) Wachtman of Defiance, Ohio, Carol (Tommie) Mortimer of Chester, Virginia, his twin sister, Korene (Bruce) Holifield, and many nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Raker.
Visitation for Kevin Michael Raker will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio. Funeral Mass for Kevin will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 5480 Moser Road, Defiance, Ohio with Father Robert Kill officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens Cemetery, Defiance with Military graveside rites accorded by the Sherwood VFW Post 5665.
