Ohio’s first case of Zika in Cleveland

Ohio has it’s first confirmed case of the Zika virus. A 30-year-old woman in Cleveland had recently traveled to Haiti and showed symptoms late last month. Ohio’s Department of Health says the woman is among three dozen known cases in 13 states and in D.C. The virus is not fatal, and many people who are infected don’t even feel sick. The virus is spread by mosquitos not typically found in Ohio. Symptoms include fever, rash, red eyes, joint pain. Health officials are investigating whether there’s a link between Zika infections in pregant women and a rare birth defect where babies are born with abnormally small heads.
