Man charged with assaulting state trooper

A state trooper was allegedly assaulted by a driver he pulled over for a traffic stop. The man pulled over for suspected impaired driving was 21-year-old James Lloyd Jr. of Toledo. The trooper says as the man was being taken into custody for OVI, he tried to run. The two got into a struggle and that’s when the trooper says Lloyd tried to choke him. Eventually the trooper got the man under control and took him to a local hospital where both of them were treated for injuries. Lloyd was found to be in possession of illegal drugs and will be charged.
