Now that Williams County Sheriff’s Deputies are knocking on the doors of registered sex offenders, compliance with the state’s registration law has improved. Lt. Greg Rusky said the department wants to make sure that people are living where they say they are living. He says the vast majority of registered offenders are in compliance. And if they are not, like living too close to a school, they are indicted. With 103 convicted sex offenders in the county, the Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to know they are keeping an eye on them, and says they haven’t had a single problem since they began knocking on doors in January.
