Geraldine M. Gearhart, 84

Geraldine M. Gearhart, age 84, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 1:57 A.M. on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, where she was a resident, after an extended illness. Mrs. Gearhart was a graduate of Montpelier High School and was a longtime dental assistant working with the Bryan Dental Group prior to her retirement. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, working with the festivals and in the school cafeteria for many years, and was a former member of the Bryan Lioness Club and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed dancing and being with her family.

Geraldine M. Gearhart was born on October 10, 1931, in Scottville, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur L. and Edith (Cramblett) Hackert. She married James H. Huston in July 3, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 1992. She then married Robert F. Gearhart on October 4, 1997, in Payne, Ohio, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, James M. (Margaret) Huston, of West Unity, Ohio, and Joe W. (Scottie) Huston, of Bryan; one daughter, Julia A. (James) Huffman, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five stepchildren, Alan (Julie) Gearhart, of Montpelier, Chris Whitis, of Pioneer, Ohio, David (Ellen) Gearhart, of Montpelier, Laura (Todd) Martin, of Bristol, Indiana, and Julie (Andy) Carlson, of Pioneer; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a half sister, Eleanor Reader; and three half brothers, Donald, Alvin and Arthur Hackert.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, followed by a scripture service at 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, with Reverend James Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.

Memorials are requested to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Community Health Professionals Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
