Melrose’s Uncle Fudd’s Diner destroyed by fire

A Melrose icon was destroyed Friday afternoon by a fire. Uncle Fudd’s Diner, a mom & pop restaurant on Ohio 613 was destroyed Friday afternoon. Oakwood Fire Chief Kenny Thomas said the fire began in a room behind the kitchen, and no one was there when it started. The diner had closed nearly an hour beforehand. The cause has not been determined. Firefighters say they drained the Oakwood watertower and had to pull water from the river to fight the blaze.
