In Toledo, two men were sent to prison for smuggling teenagers into the U.S. and keeping them as working slaves at an Ohio egg farm. Two years ago, ten young Guatemalans were found during a raid who had been living in a dilapidated trailer park near Marion with no heat and little food. They were lured to the US with a promise of attending school, but when they arrived in Ohio, they were forced to work at the egg farm and turn over most of their earnings for their passage to the U.S. The ringleader was supposed to be sentenced but that’s been delayed while the U.S. Attorney continues negotiations with the court and the ringleaders attorney.
