New surveillance system ok’d in Wauseon schools

At the Wauseon Exempted Village school district schools, three main buildings’ surveillance cameras will be upgraded following a decision by the board of education. The District superintendent Larry Brown said new camera equipment will allow law enforcement to view live images at the primary, elementary/middle and high school buildings. That is a feature local law enforcement does not have have. Brown said the issue is about improving safety and because it’s of “urgent necessity” the board waved competitive bidding. A Columbus company will install the system which will cost about $110,000. The money will be used from the classroom facilities “permanent improvement” fund.
