Fewer tickets, more crashes on interstates

Now that the interstate speed limit has been raised to 70 mph, the State Highway Patrol is writing fewer tickets. However, the patrol is reporting more crashes in those speed zones. A spokesman for ODOT says that since the speed limit increased, cars are moving only slightly faster than they were before the change. Matt Bruning said that drivers are comfortable at a certain speed no matter what the speed limit is, and if you make the speed limit 80 people will still only go as fast as they’re comfortable going.
