Former Olympian, OSU coach dies in NW Ohio crash

A former Olympic track and field athlete who later coached for Ohio State and lived in Northwest Ohio was killed in a car crash on Monday. 74-year-old Mamie Rallins was driving on State Route 53 and crossed the center line, and hitting two semis and a car. She died at the scene. Two other drivers were treated at the scene. Rallins competed in the 1968 Mexico City Games and in Munich in 1972. She coached women’s track for 18 years for the Buckeyes and was the first African-American female coach at Ohio State.
