The Bard Centennial Fountain was vandalized again over the weekend. Vandals carved words into three of the sandstone panels. A volunteer said he believed they used rocks from the landscaping to carve the message then threw them into the fountain.
The vandalization is frustrating for residents, who wonder why.
Last year, two people vandalized the fountain in its first full season of operation. One suspect was recently found not guilty of pouring liquid soap into the fountain. A second incident involved carving an obscene phrase into a sandstone panel. No charges have been filed in that case.
The Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director says they’ll likely remove decorative rocks now.
Anyone with information regarding the vandalism is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 419-636-3151.
