DOG SAVES NAPOLEON WOMAN’S LIFE

A Napoleon woman is without a home after a fire early Tuesday morning, but her life may have been saved by her dog.

Flames were visible at 12:20am Tuesday when crews from Napoleon Fire Department arrived at the Erie Street home of Carolyn Miller.

Miller and her dog, Casper, were inside the home when the fire started and made it safely outside after Casper’s barking alerted Miller to the blaze.

The fire, according to investigators, apparently began in the garage and then spread to the home and its attic.

The home and garage were destroyed in the fire which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. A neighbor’s fence was also damaged by the flames. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
