Pioneer area residents told the village Council on Monday about on-going concerns about traffic on U.S. 20 when leaving Lakeshore Drive. Last month, resident Sheila Sharp was killed when trying to turn onto Lakeshore Drive and was hit from behind. ODOT has approved an eventual resurfacing project for the area, but residents want more. Paula Hudeck asked council to put in a turn lane, and add signs that indicate a hidden drive. Mayor Ed Kidston says they’ll contact the state. He says they’ve done what they can to clear the weeds and trees to open up the blind spot, but because it’s a state route, there’s not much more they can do. Kidston warned it could take some time.
