Friday night, The Relay for Life of Defiance was held inside the George M. Smart Center on the Defiance College campus. The fundraiser of teams walking non-stop was held there because construction is going on at the Defiance High School, where it had been held the past few years. Cancer survivors gathered to raise money and support each other along with 2016’s honorary chairwoman Waneta Smith. She is a nine-year cancer survivor. Vendors and teams sold products during the relay as fundraisers. Even Defiance Mayor Mike McCann was being dropped in a dunk tank outside the center for the cause.
