Fireworks a concern this weekend

This Monday is the Fourth of July, a day for cookouts and fireworks. Local law enforcement and health officials are concerned about unintended consequences from illegal fireworks set off at home. That includes trauma to veterans, grass fires, injuries and even blindness. Defiance Assistant Fire Chief Tim Bowling said the city has a decent show every year, and says fireworks cause a lot of problems for the fire department. And most of the injuries occur not to the people setting them off, but to bystanders who are hit by flying debris, which can cause serious damage to the face, eyes and ears.
