Marathon station on track for opening in less than a month

The Marathon gas station in Bryan could be open by Aug. 1, the new franchisee told the Bryan Times yesterday.
Phil Carper, owner of the Phil’s One Stop, said about a month’s worth of work remains to get the station ready for customers.
Carper owns 14 Phil’s One Stop locations in the Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana area and was chosen to operate the Bryan location by the station’s new owners, National Oil & Gas, Inc., based in Bluffton, Indiana.
The station is about 3,500 square feet, with six individual pumps and 12 dispensers. He said he plans to offer food such as pizza and sandwiches and is seeking a liquor permit for carryout-only beer and wine sales.
The gas station is expecting to hire at least eight employees, including managers. He said the positions can be full-time or part-time depending on what the potential employee is seeking.
