Ohio AG Dewine sues to block Aetna, Humana merger

Ohio and seven other states don’t want medical insurance companies Aetna and Humana to merge, and Attorney General Mike Dewine said in a news release yesterday that his office studied the merger carefully and determined a challenge was necessary to protect Ohioans. A lawsuit challenging the merger alleges if the two companies are allowed to merge, it would lead to higher health insurance prices, reduced benefits, less innovation and worse service for more than a million Americans. The civil antitrust lawsuit to block the $37 billion dollar merger between Aetna and Humana was filed in DC by the AG’s offices in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
