Geraldine Ann Salyer, age 73, of Edgerton, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord at 12:10 A.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Salyer was a 1961 graduate of Elhurst High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and received her Associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Clark State University in Springfield, Ohio. During her work career she was employed by the Belmont store in New Haven, Indiana and also with the Head Start Program in Urbana, Ohio. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother and loved her dogs and grand dogs, especially her current dog, Buddy. She was also a long time attendee at Melrose United Methodist Church prior to moving to Edgerton.
Geraldine Ann Salyer was born on April 15, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of Gerald H. and Helen B. (Horner) Johnson. She married Charles F. Salyer on December 30, 1961, in Fort Wayne and he survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Embree, of Butler, Indiana: one son, Tim (David Johnson) Salyer, of San Jacinto, California, three grandchildren, David Embree, Valerie (Kyle) Downs, and Michelle Embree; one great-granddaughter, Makena Downs; and two brothers, Don (Marie) Johnson, of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Keith (Valerie) Johnson, of Edgewater, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services celebrating the life of Geraldine Ann Salyer will be held at a later date in the Melrose United Methodist Church, Melrose, Ohio.
