Defiance residents show interest in revitalizing neighborhood

A number of Defiance residents showed considerable interest in Mayor Mike McCann’s hope to support revitalization of their neighborhood during a public meeting Monday night. About 70 persons, including local officials, attended the meeting at Defiance Christian Church to discuss the possibility of using future grant funds to fix up homes and infrastructure in and around Ottawa and Ayersville avenues. The mayor’s office recently sent more than 300 letters to persons and businesses in that area and invited them to Monday’s meeting. McCann was assisted by officials from the Defiance-based Maumee Valley Planning Organization (MVPO), which administers grants for local political entities.
