Cloverdale man dies in two vehicle accident in Paulding County

A Cloverdale man died Monday following a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Thursday in Paulding County. According to the V an Wert post of the Ohio Highway Patrol the crash occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. at Paulding County roads 187 and 12 in Washington Township, when a southbound Chevrolet Cruze driven by 61 year old Jill Bauer of Grover Hill, stopped at a post stop sign but failed to yield to a westbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by 67 year old George Hammons of Cloverdale. Hammons and his passenger, 64 year old Vickey Hammons of Cloverdale, were both transported by air ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind., with serious injuries. According to the patrol George Hammons succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. Vickey Hammons remains hospitalized and is listed in stable condition. Bauer was take to Paulding County Hospital where she was treated and released. Troopers report that George Hammons was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, however Vickey Hammons was. Alcohol is not believe to be a factor in the crash.
