County IT manager requesting funds to upgrade county server

An upgrade to the county’s server system will come at an estimated cost of $250,000. Those are the recommendations of the county’s new Information Technology manager Jeremy Suffel. In addressing the board of commissioners on Thursday regarding the current issues with the system, Suffel said the current 13-terabyte system is outdated, “inefficient” and lacks sufficient production and storage capacity to meet the county’s ever-increasing production and storage demands. What’s more, the system is near capacity and the backup system is outdated. Commissioners and the data board agreed to draft bid documents as soon as possible, with a formal resolution to follow.
