Single car crash kills Defiance man

A single-vehicle crash in Adams Township has taken the life of a Defiance man. Killed in the accident, which occurred at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday was 25 year old Gregory Gerken. 22 year old Wesley Wagner of Napoleon was injured in the crash. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Gerken’s 2012 Buick was traveling “at a higher rate of speed” westbound on Nagel Road west of Harper Road, when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then traveled into a cornfield and rolled several times before coming to rest. The patrol reported that safety belts were not in use at the time of the crash, and Gerken was ejected from the vehicle.
