Montpelier Village Council reviews 2017 budget

Montpelier Village Council met on Monday. They reviewed the proposed 2017 budget. Members approved the first reading, with member Chris Kannel noting that a 2 percent increase built in for village employees has generated quite a bit of negative feedback from members of the community. Village Manager Kevin Brooks said a pay raise will help the village retain quality employees. He added it’s not that he thinks it’s a bad idea. In fact, he think it’s a good one. Brooks continued that he believes the village is in much better shape than some towns in the area because of getting an early look at the budget, so they can proceed intelligently.
