The battle over who pays for which inmates at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio is over with the City of Toledo gone from the partnership, but employees who pitched in to get the jail through its financial crisis will receive a $1,000 bonus. Last week, Henry County Commissioner Robert Hastedt presented the staff incentive option to the jail’s executive board. Having started his own law enforcement career as a corrections officer at the jail when it opened in 1990, Williams County Sheriff Steve Towns gave his stamp of approval to the bonuses. The bonus was recommended by the jail’s financial oversight committee following discussion at a September meeting.
