There will be a new flag on top of the Williams County Courthouse. Appropriately, the flag will be unfurled and raised for the first time during a brief ceremony on Veterans Day, scheduled at the courthouse at 8:30 a.m. on, Nov. 11. According to county commissioner Lew Hilkert, the Bryan American Legion Post 284 will present the colors on the South Lawn of the courthouse, followed by the playing of ‘Taps.’ The Bryan High School band will then play ‘The National Anthem’ as the flag is raised to the top of the flagpole, according to Hilkert, who is the commission’s representative on the courthouse project committee. The public is invited to the ceremony.
